East End BESS
The East End BESS is a proposed 500MW/4 hour Battery Energy Storage System project near Bracewell, Queensland.
The East End BESS is a proposed 500MW/4 hour Battery Energy Storage System project located on cleared farm land near Bracewell in Queensland. TE H2 submitted a planning application with the local Council in October 2025. As a result of the new State Code 27 introduced in December 2025, TE H2 is currently updating approval documentation to resubmit to the State in line with new requirements. Additional consultation will be undertaken as part of the approvals update.
The proposed site is located in a rural area of Bracewell, adjacent to the existing 275kV Powerlink transmission lines, which East End BESS will connect to. Approximately 25km southwest of Gladstone, the nearest neighbour is over 5km away from the project.
The East End BESS is currently in development and is scheduled to be lodged with the Queensland State Assessment and Referral Agency in 2nd quarter of 2026.
